After repairs, the Tungabhadra Reservoir is Regaining 14 TMC Feet thereby Reviving Farmers’ Hopes
The Tungabhadra reservoir that can be found close to Hosapete in Karnataka has found around 14 TMC feet of water in a week after fixing the damaged crest gate. On 10th August, a crested gate was washed away by a broken chain link making the outflow massive at 36,000 cusecs. The authorities had to release more water in order to reduce pressure on the damaged gate. Expert teams worked tireless all through that week going round which made them succeed it by installing a temporary stop-log gate bringing all gates to closure.
The constant inflow from the catchment area regardless of mild rains has helped this reservoir regain significant amounts of water. Farmers are still wishing for more rains so that they will also use the stored ones and get two crops.
