Meet the Rajasthani Woman Who Transformed the Lives of Thousands of Infants
Philanthropy
Meet Raksha Jain—milk donor extraordinaire of Rajasthan; her donation is a whopping 160.81 liters, which feeds a little over 5,000 underprivileged children. This journey started in 2018 after the delivery of her son and only amplified her strong commitment to help the needy. During her time, when it became hard to live life for others, Raksha set an example for thousands in the process of being selfless. Read more of her incredible story and how she's been making a difference, one liter at a time!
In, Rajasthan’s very own “Manchester,”the bustling city of Bhilwara, the journey of Raksha´s life-saving milk donations began in June 2018, right after the birth of her son. Like most new mothers, she initially found it difficult to produce milk, a harrowing experience that propelled her to the Anchal Mother Milk Bank at the Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. It was the milk bank supply that saved her child, so Raksha decided to return the favour. Inspired by the support given to her in her hour of crisis, she wanted to do the same for other children in a similar predicament.
During her first round of donations, she stayed at her in-laws’ home in Mandal town and traveled daily to Bhilwara, incurring a round-trip taxi fare of Rs. 700. When the costs became prohibitive, she didn’t give up. Instead, she began riding her scooty to Bhilwara, even in the rain, with her one-month-old child secured to her chest in a carrycot.
Raksha fondly recalls a poignant moment when hospital staff referred to a baby girl as her daughter because the infant had been surviving on her milk since birth, following the death of her mother during delivery.
“I took the girl in my arms and felt as if I were her mother,” she said. “You can donate blood throughout your life, but donating mother’s milk is a rare opportunity. Even after donating 160.81 liters of milk, my health remains unaffected. I am healthy and incredibly happy to be a mother to thousands of children who have received my milk,” she explained.
From June 2018 to 2019, she donated 54 liters of milk. She started again after the birth of her second child on 12 February 2023 and had donated 106.81 liters by November 14, 2023. All in all, her 160.81 liters of milk have fed more than 5,000 babies in need. Raksha's commitment is nothing less than heroic.
Raksha Jain's story is an inspiration to learn how one single person can make a difference. Her journey has proved that oftentimes, superheroes dont always wear capes; they, in fact, don the visage of a Rajasthani woman with a heart full of love and a fridge full of life-saving milk.

India's Contingent for Paris Olympics 2024
The Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) Olympiad for the Paris 2024 Games has been uncovered. The team consists of 257 individuals, out of which the 117 are pure athletes and 140 others are the coaching and support staff. A slight decrease in the total number of athletes from 121 to the previous Olympics Team in Tokyo, brings out the fact that the players have fewer teammates this time. Conversely, the extra support staff makes the entire team bigger.
The support staff is made up of coaches, officials, and other personnel that will accompany the athletes when they start the Games on July 26. IOA has changed athletes' to support staff members ratio in a more favourable way. Now it is approximately 1:1 instead of the traditional 3:1 ratio.
The athletics and shooting teams enjoy the longest list of support crew available, with 35 personnel supporting 50 players in these sports. The feature of shooting with the count of 21 players on their side and assisted by 18 coaching staff is the main attraction of the sport. The wrestling section consists of 6 participants and 12 other presently.
In a meeting conducted last week, the sports minister gave a go-ahead to the entire list. The IOA has stated that 67 supporting personnel will be housed in the Games Village. The remaining 72 will stay out of the Village, and the government will cover the expenses.

This year, the beginning of the New Islamic Year 1446 AH has been commemorated by Muslims all over the world on July 7 or 8, 2024. Ashura, which falls on July 16 2024, is a day celebrated by both Sunni and Shia Muslims but has very different connotations. Still, its impact is great and felt by all.
Muharram: A Month of Reflection
Muharram literally means "not permitted" or "forbidden." It is a month in which Muslims avoid war and worldly, mundane practices, and spend their days and nights in prayer and reflection. This month is ten days or sometimes even twelve days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, thus focusing on spiritual rejuvenation.
Ashura: Day of Sacrifice and Compassion
Ashura—the 10th day of Muharram—holds two historic events accomplished on this particular day. For Sunni Muslims, it is the day that the Prophet Moses and the Children of Israel saved themselves from Pharaoh's tyranny by crossing over the Red Sea. This wonderful miracle is predominantly celebrated with fasting, introspection, and donating to charity.
To the Shia Muslims, Ashura mourns the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, during the Battle of Karbala in 680 CE. His sacrifice became the epitome of resistance to oppression, injustice; it is.customarily commemorated with mourning processions and sermons teamed up with personal reflection.
A Day for Oneness and Commemoration
Even though Ashura is celebrated differently, it brings together all Muslims all across the world, moving away from the status of, hence bridging the gap between, intra-faith and sectarian differences. In many ways, Ashura reminds one of the values of sacrifice, compassion, and fight for justice. While commemorating Ashura, they join hands in an atmosphere of brotherhood and reminiscence.
Muharram and Ashura occupy special positions in the Islamic calendar, as a reminder to obey with all of the great ideals that form the very fabric of believers.
