Smart Sensor for Managing Dosage of Drugs for Parkinson’s Disease
Created by the Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), a new designed smartphone based optical sensor manages drug dosing for Parkinson’s disease. It does this through a low-cost device that uses fluorescence turn-on mechanism to find low levels of L-dopa in different types of biological samples including sweat or blood plasma. The sensor has been specifically tailored with silk-fibroin protein nano-layers coated on reduced graphene oxide nanoparticles allowing precise measurements of L-dopa concentrations. This information provided by the sensor enables real time adjustements of L-dopa concentrations thus allowing accurate medication administration; this is important in effective management of the disease and avoiding adverse effects caused by inappropriate dosing.

Razorpay, an Indian fintech giant that acquired a Malaysian startup in 2022, has entered into Malaysia’s digital payments market with its first ever international payment gateway. In 2025 Razorpay intends to serve over 5,000 businesses. The increasing presence of Indian fintech companies is being driven by these because they are supported by a rapidly growing Malaysian economy and government initiatives on enhancing digital payments system. Despite the success of digital payments, there is still room for growth in sectors such as insurance, credit management and short term lending which puts together Indian Fintechs at a better position to expand their operations even more within Malaysia.
