India Illuminated at the Paris Paralympics 2024 Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony of the Paris Paralympic Games 2024, could not have been better as it was led by the Indian flag bearers Harvinder Singh and Preethi Pal. In a passionate display of emotions, the para athletes of India managed to occupy position fifteen on the overall medal table for best performance ever where they came back home with twenty-nine medals including seven golds. Prime Minister Narendra Modi described it as “special and historical” thus appreciating hard work and dedication. Some key highlights included season’s best throw by Yogesh Kathuniya and gold medal in high jump by Praveen Kumar. As the last embers of the Paralympic flame faded away India’s meteoric rise in this sport left an unforgettable message on resilience and excellence in sportsmanship among its citizens.
Deepali Thapa Becomes First Champion of Boxing in Asia
The history of boxing has been made by an Indian girl named Deepali Thapa who is now a champion for the first time in the whole of Asia for schoolgirls. A 16 years old girl with great talent from Uttarakhand district won the gold medal during Asian school girl boxing championship in Fujairah (which is located in Dubai). In the finals, she showed her prowess to defeat her opponent Vasylchenko from Ukraine. Deepali's hard work, determination and support from her parents and coaches are clearly demonstrated through this great feat. This piece of news serves to inspire other young athletes as it indicates that persistence and commitment can bring about success. It feels good knowing that there are still people like us out there aiming at greater heights despite odds against them. Most importantly, it serves as encouragement not just to Deepali but many more girls wanting to go into boxing so that they may know anything is possible if one just believes enough.

BCCI or Board of Control for Cricket has announced its squad for two-match test series against Bangladesh that starts in Chennai. The major highlight is the return of wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who had been away from the game for almost months due to a road accident. This team is being captained by Rohit Sharma with Virat Kohli returning after missing out on the last home series against England. It is surprising to note that Mohammed Shami was left out. India has an impressive record against Bangladesh.
Floods Are About to End: The AP Chief Minister
The flood crisis in Andhra Pradesh is about to end, according to the state’s minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He has applauded the implementation of a holistic flood management plan that includes the construction of new reservoirs and improvement of drainage systems which have led to substantial reduction in flood danger. Naidu underscored that this is important for shielding disadvantaged communities from harm and enhancing sustainability.
