💬 Navigating Perspectives
In a nation where academic degrees often fail to translate into real-world employability, the story of Shipra Sharma Bhutani stands as a beacon of hope and transformation. Her journey from a passionate educator to a pioneering entrepreneur in skill development is not just inspiring—it is reshaping the future of India’s youth.
The Birth of a Mission
Shipra, an alumna of IIM-Calcutta, observed early in her teaching career that students, though academically qualified, lacked the practical skills needed by the industry. Driven by this realisation, she left her secure job and, in 2008, started Jagan Raj Professional Studies from the basement of her home with only 40 students. Her mission was bold: empower the most marginalised—manual scavengers, war widows, jail inmates, and individuals from backward communities—by equipping them with skills that ensured not just employment, but dignity.
Overcoming Barriers to Inclusion
“No organisation wanted to train these people. They were mentally and financially vulnerable and lacked access,” Shipra recalls. Yet, her determination to include the excluded led to the creation of structured training programs in fields like plumbing, beauty, security services, and electrical work. Over the past fifteen years, her initiatives have transformed over one lakh lives, providing not just skill training, but also psychometric assessments, counselling, and job placements.
Embracing Technology for the Future
The evolution of her vision saw the birth of Capacita Connect, a tech-driven startup that now leads the way in training India’s youth and professionals in cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cyber-security, and data analytics. Recognised by industry giants and featured in Forbes India, Capacita Connect is a proud partner of the Skill India Mission and has signed a ₹45-crore MoU with the Rajasthan government to train students statewide in digital technologies.
Turning Personal Struggles into Social Impact
Shipra’s journey is also a testament to personal resilience. Orphaned by the age of fifteen and facing deep personal loss, she found her purpose in uplifting others. “We teach kids to score well but not how to face tragedy or rise after failure. That’s what we need to change,” she says.
A Movement for Inclusive Growth
Today, Shipra Sharma Bhutani’s story is a rallying cry for inclusive growth and the transformative power of skill development. As more women entrepreneurs like her rise, India’s youth are not just dreaming—they are building their futures, one skill at a time.
