Academicians from Odisha have formulated a word book for the tribal children to enable them in their native learning. Seemita Mohanty, an English professor of NIT-Rourkela, has brought out this multilingual picture word book in six tribal languages for first-generation tribal learners. It aims at the preservation of linguistic heritage as well as advancing educational opportunities for tribal communities, promoting language skills among the younger generation while being a source of pride for values and identity.
Maheswar Soren from Odisha is an awardee of Sahitya Akademi and works towards making the Santali language richer through translating educational resources, developing materials within the community, and working on different projects. His initiatives include widespread use of Santali among younger generations that would ensure preservation of this indigenous language as well as growth of it.

The first-ever from Vidarbha's backward Mang community to clear the civil services examinations, he is now serving at the deputy director level in Nagpur's Income Tax Department.
