Radhakrishnan Nair, moved by the destruction of trees during a Gujarat road project in 2012, planted 1,500 trees on a purchased plot using the Miyawaki method. Inspired by its success, he collaborated with 12 state governments to establish over 80 urban forests, restoring ecological balance. Nair has planted nearly 16.5 lakh trees in 88 mini forests across 12 states.
Jas Kalra continues his father Ravi Kalra's legacy at The Earth Saviours Foundation, founded in 2008. The foundation rescues and shelters the less privileged, including the abandoned elderly and disabled. Jas has rescued over 1,500 people, reunited 3,000 with families, and cremated 3,000 unclaimed bodies. The foundation provides free shelter, food, and medical aid.
Sunil Jaglan, a former sarpanch from Haryana, advocates for gender equality after the birth of his daughters. He initiated campaigns like 'Selfie with Daughter' to combat female foeticide and 'Gaali Bandh Ghar' to end misogynistic language. Jaglan also introduced women-inclusive khap panchayats to discuss issues like domestic violence and dowry.
Roshni Perween, married at 13 and a mother at 14, escaped her abusive marriage and now advocates against child marriage in Bihar. Since 2018, she has worked with organisations like Childline India and Save the Children to prevent child marriages and empower young girls. Roshni has formed 15 adolescent girls' groups and prevented over 60 child marriages through counselling and community engagement.
